Summary
• Thought to be of value in consciously raising the questions and
asking PM’s / project members to consider. A lot of communication is done in the Unconsciously Incompetent space, this helps move
it to the Consciously Incompetent and then in time Consciously
Competent and finally Unconsciously Incompetent
• The lens has a mainly internal and not external focus. Consider
using in conjunction with Stakeholder lens to provide this
• Important to identify who has the authority to communicate
what and make associated decisions
• Should have clear protocols within the project and with the
organisation
• Questions have a “push” focus. Must be balanced by a “pull”
focus to ensure that what has been understood / taken from the
communication is fed back and communication therefore re-
assessed re its success
|
• Discussion about the usefulness of a “tool” to facilitate this
• Question 1 thought to be critical as not enough thought given
to what is the message you want them to take from it
• The shape of the communication must be considered – what,
how, when, with whom, etc
• Suggestion made to do an audit of the types of communication found to be most effective on a project. Tim Lyons interested in
pursuing further with the SIG
• The organisational culture must be considered and the impact
it has on comms
