What is generation Y using Facebook et al for?  It's not just useless chat and a photo record of  their lives. 
It's organising themselves to get to the next face to face meeting to generate more photo records of  their lives.  


But they are learning the skills of motivating and organising teams in an online environment.

 
The Green Man Festival is a group set up by my son to herd his friends and me  apparently to the Green Man Festival  in Wales this summer. Fortunately this  screen grab has cropped the rather naughty green fruit displayed on the group  page.
p.s. I don't know any of the bands at this years festival but it is situated in a  lovely valley in the Brecon Beacons.  See me at  Fairport's Cropredy Convention

Those friends of mine who have updated their status most frequently. Average  age 45ish.  These people are using Facebook to make business friends which  leads to paid assignments in a wide variety of businesses.
They are (roughly): software developer, copywriter, furniture supplier, business  coach, sales and marketing consultant, public speaker, doctor, chairman of  Ecademy, dating agency and event organiser, video producer, owner of NRG  business network, customer relationship consultant, independent financial  planner, software developer, actor, pharmaceutical researcher, blood tester,  software developer, video producer.
