Amstrad PPC640, 1987 - How long does it take to open a new document
from power on?

Tablet PC - It takes 1min 50 secs to go from hibernation to resume working!
MindManager - A 12 year old application I am using to present and create
this web site
Painting - You can paint on a Tablet PC which was difficult on a PPC640.

Compuserve - An international sophisticated bulletin board. Not that difficult
to use. Not that slow. Most stuff was text based and zoomed down a 9600
baud modem!
Its was a private and complex database but you could find answers to
simple questions e.g. What is the fingering for a Yamaha fife? Someone
responded in 8 hours.
Now
Twitter, a very simple database with an open API which allows developers to
create versatile and simple applications which enable a global community to
interact very effectively. It has lead to meeting new people both on and off
line in the areas I want to do business or collaborate.
