How can we work better together so that we all get more from Ecademy?
Bracknell 22nd April 2008

If Ecademy was perfect…?

Leader:       Neil Denny

Attendees:  Dennis Sheppard; Jeff Nutbeem; Christine Clacey; Dave Clarke; Lynn Tulip; Richard Derwent Cooke; Suzanne Cauchi

Discussion Points:
Different reasons for using ecademy.  One felt if phone rang every day then that was perfection and the interface was immaterial.
We had comparisons to other sites – Business Scene and NRG.  The former has  a very effective events diary system.  Ecademy diary gets congested, not least with personal matters.
NRG is of course a different beast and its website is more of an information depot.
Thoughts of the Discussion Leader

A perfect Ecademy would present even better tools for users to be self organising.
We would expect to see a perfect Ecademy to have mobile accessibility and functionality.
Concerns were expressed that greater emphasis on the business side of things was required with a debate on moderation.  Non moderation leads to a lot of noise which can be hard or time consuming to filter through to get to the good stuff..
All but one of us felt business leads and work was a primary reason for joining Ecademy.  The exception enjoyed the social aspect more. Dave explained that recent survey placed the emphasis on increasing contacts.  Query whether that suggests more work or are we talking about contacts providing business support.
Richard said the social side of Ecademy was the plastic toy in the cereal but it wasn’t breakfast.

The interface could be much less cluttered. User defined interface possible?

What were the conclusions?
Perfection would always be subjective but the interface, stronger business bent and more work generation seemed consistent goals.

What is going to happen next?
Ongoing debate on Ecademy hopefully.
